Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa
The World Cup tournament takes place every four years. The previous tournament was held in 2006 in Germany and Italy won the World Cup back then. 2010 will be the first time that the final tournament will be hosted by an African nation.
The 2010 World Cup is said to be the worlds second biggest sporting event ever seen. Well over a billion people are expected to follow the one month long soccer tournament between the worlds top 32 soccer playing nations.
The World Cup will be staged at 10 venues across nine South African cities: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg and Pretoria. Johannesburg, South Africa’s economic capital, will be home to two World Cup stadiums, Soccer City and Ellis Park.
